William Carey and SMCC Team-Up

William Carey University and Southwest Mississippi Community College signed a partnership agreement this week that will allow SMCC nursing and pre-professional healthcare students to earn credits toward an associate’s degree at SMCC, and a bachelor’s degree at William Carey University, at the same time.

• In this “dual enrollment” plan, SMCC students can take bachelor’s level healthcare courses from WCU instructors – with students paying the SMCC tuition rate.

• A second agreement makes it easier for career-technical students to transfer technical and academic credits toward a bachelor’s degree at William Carey.

• As of this signing ceremony, William Carey University has partnership agreements with half of Mississippi’s community colleges.

• About 40 percent of William Carey students are community college transfers.
