My traditional class moved online! What do I do now?

  • Find a reliable wi-fi or other internet connection.

    • Kenna Hall computer lab will be open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

    • The front patio of the Lewis Nursing Education Building-SMCC

    • In front of Holmes Student Union-SMCC

    • Additional SMCC campus sites-TBA

    • Liberty Library

    • Local restaurants are providing wi-fi in their parking lots

    • Additional sites to be announced. Please email showsa@smcc.edu to add sites to this list

    • Check with local wi-fi providers. Most are offering free or reduced service for the next weeks for educational use. (AT&T, C-Spire, Comcast, Verizon, etc.)

  • Login to Canvas, just as you have done all semester to access your e-books.

  • Check all classes for instructions from your instructor.

  • It is not advised that you take a Canvas test on your smartphone.

  • Do not wait until the last minute to try to complete your assignments or tests. You may have technical problems and not have time to finish before the deadline. À Need technical support, e-mail kimhenning@smcc.edu or jlea@smcc.edu. For questions about your class content, contact your instructor. The best way to communicate with your instructor, unless your instructor directs otherwise, is through your Canvas Inbox.

  • Your instructor may have a proctored exam scheduled for your class. If so, you will need to schedule through Proctoring. If there is an available time listed, the proctoring center will be open. Based on federal and state regulations, we may have to add proctoring options.

  • Check your email at least daily for the latest instructions from your instructor.

  • Check the COVID-19 update page regularly for updates.

This will be a new situation for all of us. We appreciate your patience, as we work through whatever comes. If you have questions or concerns, ASK!
