Dropout Recovery

The Dropout Recovery Initiative is to “Reclaim Lost Potential”. It is not enough to simply stem the flood of future high school dropouts. We must reclaim those lives that are lessened, those dropouts whose economic and social potential has been lost to our state. To do that we must implement an aggressive and visionary Dropout Recovery Program.*

Southwest Mississippi Community College is aggressively working toward this with our Dropout Recovery program.

In addition to our free Adult Basic Education classes:

• We offer monthly testing in all four counties of our school district, Amite, Pike, Walthall and Wilkerson.
• Free GED testing is available for qualified individuals.
• Once a candidate has successfully completed the GED, we offer free counseling to help that individual continue his/her education.
